Sure, some problems are just boatproblems, as Rick amongst others stated.
But there are other things like 'where to check in on the south-coast of
Cuba, is Isla Juventud still possible or not', 'what is a good marina
around xxx-area' and 'how to bake your bread in a pressure cooker' (there
is a galley-list btw. mailto:).
IMHO a cruising-list would be a low volume list so that you don't have to
download hundreds of mails or unsubscribe after or before a few weeks of
sailing. It should give you the possibility to get in touch with other
cruisers and exchange specific cruising information about locations,
entry-procedures, the things you can buy or should take with you in certain
areas.
Maybe a mailing-list is not the most ideal way to communicate amongst
cruisers. Till now it doesn't work that way. SW-Radio is used to stay in
touch with cruisers like the NW-Caribean Net (8188 at 14.00 Zulu) or the
Spanish net, German net and so on. Lots of people compose a mail that they
send to all their friends and known collegues. Don't forget the pot-lucks
and all other kind of meetings to get information of where you are heading
to and to give information about where you were.
I for sure would like a cruising-list. It would be a great contribution and
update to cruising-guides from people that were there.
