Ken and Ron,
With a change in personnel a couple a years ago, the excise tax (which has
been on the books for years) is now being enforced. So much so that the MD
legislature had to change the law to allow 90 days MD waters use before the
tax kicks in (House Bill 1190). The change takes effect 10/1/2002.
Meanwhile I have a hefty 5-figure lien on my boat....in MD. They tracked me
down through CG documentation records. I was already in the Bahamas by that
time. Shucks, I kinda liked the Chesapeake...
