Hi thar peoples:
!. I have map tech Navigator (and lots of charts),Nobel Tech Visual Suite,
and Chartview on my computer, onboard.
For some reason I prefer MapTech...don't know why, but I do.
Now, "set-Sail" has a package ($169.00) that is also a navigator, but allows
one to obtain weather information for your particular area on a real time
basis. This is done with compressed files, sailmail, and a SSB xmtr.
QUESTION: As I am a complete novice at wx prediction (put finger in
air...yep thar is wind!), should I buy the 'Set-Sail Pkg"? It also uses BSB
format so the map tech stuff is not lost.
However: they also sell a 'Yacht" pkg that uses Vector charts and includes
all vector charts available from NOAA as of a certain date. They say one
can go online and download new charts (vector) from NOAA.
Are they feeding me a line of BS or is all this true? Would I gain that
much, wx wise, to buy it...or should I just start reading and checking with
the Pacific Seafarers Net?
2. I do not have a spare main (46' boat). Someone gave me a brand new
Force-50 mainsail. If I lay it out on the ground, and put my main on top of
it, should I cut off the top, or should I cut off the bottom?
Thanks
Susan
