I don't think it is a matter of not understanding. The "lifetime guaranteed"
HP pump failed due to VM screw-up with the brass. The "lifetime guaranteed"
membrane pressure vessels failed when the glue joint between the aluminum end
collars and the Fiberglas tubes failed. They had drilled and tapped the
collars to attach the HP lines and that's where the leak began. The
replacements have no holes in the collars; all the lines go through the end
caps so there is no glue joint exposed to HP seawater as before. The
salinity control board (failed hour meter) and power control board (the
software refused to recognize the HP pump low input pressure shutdown switch)
were replaced during the initial warrantee period. All these defective parts
were eventually replaced by Village Marine and I did the all the labor.
The HP pump feedwater gauge unit also failed but I had to pay cash for a
replacement since it was out of warranty.
I've gotta think they lost their profit on my unit due to these screw-ups,
bad engineering and premature failures, so they tried to charge me the $350
for the pump head just to avoid taking a loss.
