    hi gang,

as you can read for yourself, i have been asked to place this tidbit
    from our intrepid travelers.

    John -

Please forward the quoted part of this message on to the Live-aboard
    list
    ...

"Whee! - we are finally only a single signature away from actually
    owning
'Santorini' - after much dithering and diddling about, including the
    utterly
delightful experience of watching our U.S dollars plunge from 1.12 to
    .94
Euro, which cost us about $14K - the monies are transfered and we close
    this
    afternoon.

The weather has ranged from mild to really rather dreadful with Force 7
storm warnings last night, but the boat is warm, dry, and rides her
    moorings
    quite nicely.

We're pretty much moved aboard, and are now in the phase where we
frantically tear stuff out of lockers screaming "Why in the name of Gort
    did
you put Deoderant in with Cat Litter?"

    "Because they both smell, Dear?"

It's always such a long process to make a boat your own, from little
    things
like learning the idiosyncracies of the head, to discovering that the
oarlocks for the dinghy are too flimsy to hold the brand new oars ....
    Mutter, mutter, mutter.

A major irritation was discovering that unless you have both a Dutch ID
number and a local bank account you cannot get a wireless telephone with

Internet capability. The only phones available to foreigners are a very
limited set of 'Pre-pay' phones which are not GPRS or modem capable. So,
    we
will be reduced to using Public Libraries at 2.40 Euro/hr, or begging
    phone
    lines from people we meet.

More as we take off on our trip."
