We had a custom one made with an extra section to handle our high freeboard.
It cost just under $900 and worth every penny. I have a stainless ring and
shackle that holds it up to the life line when not in use. The shackle is
one of the type where you can attach a trip line. The trip line goes under
the folded ladder and hangs down to 6" above the water line. In an
emergency you can pull on the line which trips the shackle and pulls the
ladder down where the hinges lock into place and you can climb aboard.
SO FAR IT HAS SAVED ONE LIFE.
