The spec plate says 25 HP, but the 30 was the same weight. I don't know if
the Control Freaks will attack me for this or not. I have never seen any
printed word about this. One fellow I met said it is illegal but I don't
    know.

For me, the bigger the better, but motor weight and transom strength is the
limit. I sometimes use the dink to push the bow of the big boat around
toward deep water when aground and then I wish I had a zillion HP.

With one person in the dink 30 HP puts stability right on the edge at full
throttle (I can feel it skittering around under me), but I rarely run at full
throttle and seldom am alone. I prefer lots of available power when I need
it but use it only occasionally.
