You should be able to receive even without a ground or tuner if the
antenna is really attached, so need to check the antenna
installation for a short or open. Basic installation: coax from M800
to AT130, GTO15 high tension antenna lead from tuner to just
above lower insulator, tuner grounded to foil with foil or braid. Most
common problem is shorted PL259 connector on coax. You can
test the cable with an ohmmeter-make sure resistance from center
to center and shield to shield is very low, center to shield very high.
You can find someone with an antenna analyzer/vswr meter
eventually, but first need to get reception going. Try listening to
one of the nets, or even the time signals on 5, 10, 15 MHz to verify
reception. Even though HF does not always have good reception,
one of these should work.
