    There's a simple solution to that which only works with GSM phones.

    Get a second SIM card for the "expensive" market - prepaid. Switching them
    is a 30-second exercise :)

    The SIM card is the "brains" of the phone. It also includes its identity -
    which is the important part. You can switch phones as you wish with GSM, so
    long as you have the SIM card that your account is keyed to.

    Likewise, you can have multiple SIM cards (multiple accounts) for one phone,
    and switch them at will, provided the phone is "unlocked." There are people
    who have the software necessary to unlock GSM phones - so you can truly have
    a phone without a provider lock installed on it. This is impossible for
    many CDMA/TDMA/AMPS phones, which are locked in the firmware and cannot be
    unlocked due to it being burned into an EPROM that cannot be reversed.
