Living aboard as we do in Scandinavia, I can only second Owens advice... the
insulation is a must. Uninsulated areas can "radiate" cold more than you'd
imagine. We have two inches of fireinhibiting foam under the deck and cabin
top, and one inch everywhere else. A dodger/enclosure over the entire cocpit
    helps a lot too.

Then we too have a Refleks diesel heater, with a water heating coil for
central heating in addition to the radiated heat. A small circulation pump
supplies heat to convectors all around the boat... inside storage areas etc.
and makes the whole boat feel comfy during even the worst winter weather. I
have nothing but praise for the Refleks oven. We lit it in october, and it
still burns happily. No maintenance all winter, no soot. Moderate
consumption and total reliability. We have had it burn perfectly through
hurricane force wind on several occasions.
