Lee, you have just proven my point about prices in the Bahamas being 2X US
    prices...
Diesel is US$0.99 at some marine pumps in Florida --- even less in NC.
US$4 for a beer is really pricey... I don't buy it at that price or even
    US$2 per bottle.

I agree that Rum is a better buy. But if CHEAP rum is your goal, buy it in
the USVI. Run is so cheap there I encourage my children to drink rum
    instead of milk.

In the US I never pay more than US$1 or US$1.50 for laundromat wash and same
    for dry.

Slips are reasonable in the Bahamas. Comparable to (non-urban) Chesapeake
    bay prices.

Now tell all the nice people about BATELCO telephone rates... and cell phone
    service!!! Outa sight!

All that being said the Bahamas (especially Abacos) are wonderfully
civilized cruising. I really like them esp. when compared to Florida's SE.
coast. I prefer the out islands for cruising because of their remoteness
and wildness. There is really too much traffic in Marsh Harbor during rush
    hours.... ;-)
