The peroxide ( H2O2) is what keeps the level of bacteria down in that nice
moist oxygen free environment under the gums - it's the antibiotic that
tries to "kill" the bacteria but you need to continue the penicillin for
10-14 days unless you want the same infection to come back chronically and
antibiotic resistant the next time around.
