As an old retired computer-freak with >30 years in the business, I'd go for that: Dedicated battery with some sort of charger (could be solar if el sol co-operates or a feed with switch from your housebank). Switch on to "refill" the battery, switch off
to use the ocmputer. That's really safe, sort of belts and suspenders approach.
George, who is reckless and feeds direct from the housebank....
