There was a thread about this a couple of months ago. The commercial pilots
on the list told us they do not listen to this frequency, they listen to the
channel that communicates with the air traffic controller for the air space
    they are flying in.

In my opinion this is a gross defect in the flying community. Commercial
vessels are required to monitor channel 13 at all times in order to keep a
clear channel open to other ships in the area. Ships of the air should do
    the same.
