When I bought my boat, it was gutted and all electrical systems removed. As
part of the deal, I got a lot of loose parts. Three new alternators were
included.
The 165 amp Lestek was mounted and connected to an external regulator, that
for now, only charges two 8d starting batteries for the twin 8-71's.
I have a 190 amp Lestek and the other is a 205 amp EMS Lestek.
The previous owner obviously had a plan.........I don't.
Can anyone suggest a plan to utilize the alternators for starting and house
bank.....keeping in mind that if it gets to technical you will lose me.
I would be interested in knowing the proper size and quantity of batteries.
What type and brand of voltage regulators? Finally, any suggestions for
system design that would be simple and reliable.
I have a Statpower Truecharge 40+ charger. I have a total of 4 new 8d's @
1550 cca each, 2 are not in use.
I would probably include an inverter, but it would only be for TV, computer
and small appliances.
I have a 16.5 KW generator.
I am a coastal cruiser and will not spend long periods of time on the hook
or at sea. I will be living aboard the boat at a marina. I have a 50 amp
AC service panel now.
I am open for any suggestions and would appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
