    Hah! You guys were not listening when we discussed IKEA and other
    quartz-iodine reading lights. Everyone who puts one on his boat, has
    a 12 V AC transformer left over. One (or four) 20H diode(s) makes
    said transformer into a rough 12 V DC supply. Cobble this up with an
    ordinary car/boat battery as a filter and you have a fine 12 V supply.
    Somebody asked: "What to do with all those transformers left over
    from the quartz-lights?" Well, here is one possibility.
