I can also say that PUR is one of the best customer service experiences one
can have. Very helpful and really took an interest in getting parts mailed
ahead to me. I used their handheld purifier as well when I hiked the
Appalachian Trail in 1999. The trail grapevine is rooted around gear much as
the LA list is, and PUR is the recognized superior backcountry product. No
affiliation, just recognition.
BTW: bleach is cheaper than iodine.
Does anyone onlist use a water catchment system onboard? ....SU
