The cost in not as important as the savings and friends that are created
in such an organization. My wife and I belong to two club. We are
Commodore and Vice Commodore of one of the clubs. We keep our boat at
the other. After many years of commercial marina life we have opted to
join a working yacht club near Philadelphia. We will have upto 1800
foot of dock, green grass picnic area, capacity to remove our boat on
the rail, many more permanent friends, free helping hands when ever a
repair is to made and the most beautiful view of the Ben Franklin Bridge
and Philly available anywhere.
No price can be levied against all of these benefits. However it only
cost $1000 to join, and $25 per foot to dock. Winter is $12 per foot.
Try and bet those cost for a better life.
Joining a yacht club is an investment in time but you are always around
people who you like and who like the same thing - boats. We are very
active in the boating community both here on the Delaware and also in
the Chesapeake.
