Actually there is a use for them: Get yourself a single diode (20H or
something like it) and solder it in line with one of the secondary
transformer leads, add two wires and alligator clips. Presto, you
have a half-wave trickle battery charger. Should be just about enough
juice to keep a single 12 Volt lead-acid battery charged while in
storage. Check polarity with a VOM – should be about 14 Volts of
rough DC.
(Just before I get mercilessly flamed for this: Yes, I know how to
hook up a full wave bridge but you'd need 4 diodes, read my
instructions carefully and it isn't worth it). Gg

Noticed that the first year I had my solid fuel stove. But then I
checked around and found that a small neighbourhood hardware store
stocked charcoal briquettes all year round for backyard and balcony
barbecues. And that's up here in dog-sled country. <grin> Also
discovered that those little fireplace starters (sawdust and wax) fit
exactly into my firebox. Burn for about 40 minutes. Have a happy!
