I use a 17ft open kayak as my dinghy and was unhappy with the lack of
cleats and such. It is built of plastic and currently has no access to the
inside of the hull. I attached two cleats on the bow by drilling through the
topsides, liberally coating the surface and filling the holes with 5200 and
using large brass wood screws into the holes and tightened her up. So far
the cleats have not even wiggled. She has undergone a couple of fair gales
though I keep a close eye on her when towing astern. I always tow from both
    cleats.
    5200 is incredible stuff!
