    They require a higher charging voltage. The editor of Home Power waxed on
    about them when he obtained some used ones, but since then the used supply
    had dried up due to EPA restrictions. New ones, in house battery size, are
    very expensive. Nicads have less power density so they take up more room.

    In short, they are wonderful, but not cost effective compared to lead acid,
    unless one is wealthy.
