Is the corrosion at the engine block or at the batteries? If it's at the
batteries, you can make a very good treatment this way: Put a 3/4-full tub of
Vaseline in very warm water and let it liquefy (be careful with this stuff
because it can catch fire); then stir baking soda into the liquid until it
thickens; put the tub of Vaseline and baking soda into a pan of cold water,
and stir it (to keep the soda in suspension) until it solidifies. Clean the
terminals thoroughly and then coat them with the paste.
If the corrosion is at the block, then heat will cause such a paste to melt
and run off the connection. In that case, you might try cleaning the
connection and then painting it with a high-temperature paint.
