Paul,
My wife didn't care for our first sailboat, a 27' traditional layout Lancer.
Found a compromise in a pilothouse motorsailer. I feel its a compromise between a
trawler and a sailboat. The pilothouse is, on our new to us Morgan, is comparable
to a trawler's. All lines lead inside to the only helm station, sails are all
roller furling. Still gives me an opportunity to sail and to stabilize the boat
in wind and waves. Motor is big enough to push at hull speed no matter the
weather. Have a genset, A/C, Espar heat and most of the other creature comforts!
You might check out the various models on the market.
