Paul,
Ten years ago I made the switch. No not boats --I changed women. However,
during the switch my new bride went sailing with me. She simply hated it.
I gave up sailing for the woman. Sailing in Arizona was not that great
anyway. Shortly after that we moved to Florida. She fell in love with the
water and the things mother nature provides with it. She now enjoys boating
of any type except sailing.
A few months ago she signed up for a one week womens training cruise on a
trawler. She love it. Now I don't know about you, but I think a women at
the helm of a trawler is just as sexy as a women on a tiller. I love
sailing, but it didn't take me long to learn to love a trawler just as well.
Heaven forbid that we should be comfortable, dry and relaxed during our
travels.
This is just the beginning of the story. Currently we are jointly looking
for a 42'-48' trawler. We are in the middle stages of retiring to a trawler
for a few years and plan on seeing those thirty some state in the US
available by water. We are also looking forward to cruising the "Spanish
Lake" (Carribean) a good part of that time.
There is life after sailing and trawler time is as good or better and a
natural evolution for many sailors when the time is right.
Remember, its just another day in Paradise.
