    Are you sure? Not all 1/0 battery cable is the "same stuff". In
    particular, automotive quality and "welding cable" is unsuitable for marine
    work. Marine cable has to be TCW (Tinned Copper Wire) or the cable will rot
    out in the marine atmosphere and become unrepairable. The insulation has to
    be rated for 105 degrees C and moisture resistant.

    We buy thousands of dollars worth of marine wire for our production line.
    The only product we have found to be satisfactory is made by ANCOR, which I
    believe is the brand West Marine sells. We could improve our profit margin
    considerably by changing to a cheaper brand but as a live-aboard cruiser
    myself, I wouldn't do that to anyone.
