I'm guessing that with the huge magnetic forces coming and going with various
loads that the residual magnetism in the winch motor would be different
almost each time your used it, and so, impossible to compensate for.
The techie at Lewmar is full of poopie.
You might consider a hydraulic winch with a remote electric pump.
