    Gene,
Don't ask me what KSO stands for, but on my breaker panel which is also from
the early 70's it is for the wind speed indicator. I also have KSI which is
for the speed log. Both of the instrument are Kenyon.

    Thanks,
    Tom Rogers

Subject: lv-ab: What is a "KSO" switch?

I helped deliver a 1970 Pearson 43 last week from Alabama to Texas. On the
breaker panel was a breaker with the added label "KSO Circuit". Among
other things, the radar was on it. The old Kenyon gauges also said KSO on
the face, and they were on the circuit.

We had a bit of trouble keeping the radar on. We're wondering if the "KSO"
business is anything special, or did Kenyon just furnish an extra engraved
label to put by the breaker or ??? Does anyone know of anything out of the
ordinary with that circuit or what might be on it? Is this just something
    added to lead us astray?

By the way, the delivery went well. We made it from Orange Beach, Alabama
to Clear Lake, Texas under 3 days. We expected 5 and hoped for 4. In
reality, we had enough wind on the quarter - out of the north and north
east for 3 days - to keep us going at 7+ knots the whole trip. Not a tack
    on the whole delivery.

Well, there was one jib. In the middle of the night, about 30 miles off of
Louisana the Coast Guard put a light on us and told us we were in a
"restricted anchorage". They told us we must turn around and go back where
we came from! The owner said "We're trying to get to Texas - don't we have
another option?" They thought about it and said, "OK, turn to 150 degrees,
go 3 miles, then you can turn back west."

The strange thing is, there is no anchorage on the charts, and it's out in
the middle of the ocean. I think some things are getting out of hand over
    this whole deal.

On this old boat we only had the normal fuel problems and an oil filter
started leaking. Nothing broke, no major disasters, and the autopilot
worked most of the time! A remarkably fast and trouble free delivery for
    once.
