We moved Victoria from CT to Pentwater, MI several years ago via the Erie
Canal. It was one of the most enjoyable trips I have ever made (even though
90% was under power). The Trent-Severn Waterway is a wonderful alternative,
and somewhat shorter in distance if not time, as long as you don't draw
over 5 feet. We chose the Erie route just to have done it (and we weren't
confident about carrying our draft through the Trent-Severn).

The Erie Canal has been significantly upgraded since being transfered to the
New York State Thruway Authority. Each lock is a park-like setting with
good free dockage, usually with power. There is now a fee for the passage,
but it is an excellent value.

If you need advice on ports, etc., let me know. I just moved my boat to
Maine from MI after 8 years on the Lakes.
