Having grown up on the ICW in Savannah and having just purchased and
outfitted my boat for my passage to Bermuda I must beg to differ with Norm
on this one. I've never been caught behind a bridge in Georgia but was
delayed by 14 hours by no less than two bridges just south of Charleston.
Not that SC sucks or anything like that but I would consider sailing around
the the entire state by going outside if it didn't have such beautiful and
remote stretches along the ICW.
The liveaboard law is on the books but I know of quite a few folks who
happily and successfully liveaboard in GA. Most folks are friendly, the
seafood is fresh and usuallu well prepared, the vista's across the marshes
are stunning.
I'm not trying to re-open this debate just state my opinion on my home
state.
Cheers Norm, it is an honor to finally disagree with you on something. When
I have your depth of experience on boats perhaps I'll have the courage to
disagree with you on something pertaining to watercraft as well.
Thanks
