Actually that's wrong - the bottom flexes, but the dinghy itself is pretty
stable. It takes no effort to flatten it out - it folds right up as soon
as we get the braces out. It does take some effort to put it together on
the deck. Bob and I can carry it disassembled, and with some effort can
carry it a short distance assembled. The limitation here is my strength.

The reason was the gale and the motor (3.5 hp) and not so much the dinghy.
If I thought there was anyone on the boat that was really in trouble I'd
have made more effort. Just for a boat, I wouldn't.

I've been wanting to replace our inflatable for some time (we do have one
    of those too).

    I like the portaboat because
1 it can be rowed much more easily than the inflatable
2 it has seats which our inflatable doesn't
            3 It is lighter.
4 you can't destroy them (no punctures etc.)

    Disadvantages are
1 It does have to be put together (takes about 15 minutes) to use it
2 It doesn't carry very much (but we have a small one).

I haven't quite figured out how to get into it from the water, but I
can't figure that out with the inflatable either.
