I sent this directly to Tom and it bounced. Not sure why. So I'm posting
it to the list instead.

Solar panels are great in the CHesapeake when there's little wind. The
wind gen does well in FL - it works at night when solar panels don't. We
don't have a genset yet, but we do have both solar and wind.

I've always wanted to take a picture of our boat anchored there from the
top. The harbor is also on the local TV intro - live shot - Ch 13.

We enjoyed CHestertown, but we afraid to anchor there because of the
shifting current (goes 180 deg when the tide changes and anchors frequently
drag) and the cables which go under the water there which we didn't want to
get into. We were on a face dock at the marina which was nice. We walked
up to eat in town. Chestertown is mainly a college town.

We saw that when we were on moorings down in FL this winter.

DId you see the two silo house? It's weird. We were able to sail almost
all the way down the Chesapeake. There is a nice anchorage on the Corsica
River just around the point. You can probably also get into Queenstown (we
ran aground 4 times trying it, but we have a 5 ft draft).
There are a lot of seafood houses around Kent Island. I understand the
Crab Deck allows dinner patrons to tie up for dinner or overnight if not
crowded. We've not been through Kent Narrows because of the draft problem
(the charts say there's not enough water) and the current.
You can go up to Shaw Bay and anchor - it is a lovely anchorage past St.
Michaels up the Wye River.
Same deal with Knapps Narrows - restaurants that have free place to tie up.
Oxford is a lovely town to visit.
On the western shore, we always stop off at Selby Bay off the South RIver
(south of Thomas Pt. light. There's a nice anchorage there which usually
has very few boats. You can also go up to Harness Creek, but that may be
crowded at the weekend.
When you get farther down towards us, I'll tell you more places. You can
also go to the ChesapeakeCruising list's anchorage and marina board where
additional directions are. It is at http://chesapeakecruising.com/

If you get down as far as Solomons or to the Potomac, give us a call. We
will come and pick you up and take you around.
