Lee,
You should be using a 5/16" or 3/8" shackle to attach the rope rode and its
5/8" thimble to the chain.
OTOH, I plan on eye splicing my 5/8" rope rode directly to my 5/16" chain. I
DON'T know if that will work, but will give it a try.
