    Hi Folks,
     I agree with Norm that quite often heat is a major cause of
    failure in electronic components. Thus some SSB transceivers
    enjoy a reputation for reliability when they all have the
    same components to choose from. Want to bet the 'reliable'
    ones are somewhat larger and heavier than those with poorer
    reputations?
     Adequate heatsinks are needed to dissipate the heat
    generated by normal operation, especially during extended
    transmit cycles. A small 12 Volt fan, blowing on any part of
    your equipment that has fins, can indeed improve the
    lifespan of your equipment.
