Good morning Fred, do the cables run to each bow? Most Cats will hook a
bridal to the anchor rode and tie it off to each bow. Then slack the rode
so the anchor's tension is transferred to the bridal. This keeps the two
hulls from sailing about while at anchor.

FWIW, there is a boat anchored in the harbor displaying an anchor ball.
    First
time I've seen that. Odd looking vessel. All aluminum, recently polished,
probably here for paint at the nearby boatyard? It is a motor Catamaran.
    Very
high freeboard, pilot house, twin air gens, radar. At first I thought it was
a trimaran. It has a center, almost full length, 'V' shaped appendage
    between
the amas. It does not quite touch the water though. Is this a bilge? Is it a
design feature for stability? I like it. It looks almost military, or
    perhaps
like some type of research vessel. I read the name on it but forget what it
said. I do remember it said 48, but it is not 48 feet long, as I crewed for
someone on his 27 footer yesterday, we went to have a closer look at it & it
definitely is not 20' longer than the 27 footer.

Also, it has one anchor set. There is another on deck. What is different is
that there are 2 steel cables, one on either side of the anchor chain, each
    a
bit slack, following the anchor into the water. What is the purpose of these
    2 cables?
