I have an 88-lb Delta as my primary anchor, but I'm now concerned about it.
I talked with the manufacturer recently and he said that when a boat swings
180 degrees the Delta will break loose and "probably" reset. We swing 180
degrees almost every day we are anchored as tides and winds change. We
haven't had a problem yet, but his statement is rather disconcerting. It
also makes me wonder if my anchor-setting routine is a waste of time. I back
down on the anchor at 1800 rpm (twin 120 hp engines) to set it. But why
bother if it is going to break loose as soon as the tide changes? I would
appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thanks.
