    It can even be simpler than that.

    My instruments are hooked right to the lighting leg, as is the stern
    light. Also hooked to that leg is the center of a double throw switch.
    One side goes to the tricolor, the other goes to the lower lights. Turn on
    the light breaker, you have stern, instruments, and either tri color or
    lower, never both. My optional extra is two lights similar to the ones
    used on the breaker panel to tell you the breaker is on. One for tri, the
    other for lower lights. You can tell at a glance which is on, even from
    the cabin.
