    Hi Folks,
We have been looking for a small utility boat to hang off the back of the barge for quick zips around the neighborhood.
After looking for months we have pretty much settled on a 17 foot Boston Whaler Montauk 1979 with an updated Suzuki motor with a year left on the warranty.
They seem to be like Harley's, you can't kill them but the price never drops either.
What should I be watching out for in this older boat. I have heard the steering is a pain to repair/replace. Is there any other Whaler particularities I should be looking for before purchase?
We also would like to leave her in the water and use her all year after we pull the big boat.
We see lots of folks putting by all winter. How do you take care of the engine and keep her running in cold weather?
    Any info would be appreciated.
    Mary and Elise
