Seems the best friends I've made here at the marina are older than I am (50).
They are in their late 70's & early 80's. 2 have power boats, one has a
sailboat. The nice thing about the power boating friends is that they have
been around here quite a while and have shown me many of the local
restaurants, creeks, and anchorages that would have taken me hours or days to
get to in my sailboat. Now I'm aware of several storm holes, swimming areas,
historical information, and just really nice places to sail to, and I know
the depths, entrances, and what to avoid.

I think also that they like having the company. Either their wives have died
or just do not like being on the water. Also, in the event of a health
problem or a problem with the boat or navigation, docking, etc, I'm there to
    help.

I just hope that if I ever reach that age I'll still be as active & as
    enthusiastic as these guys are.
