Thanks. What do you think about applying Tom O'Meara's hot paper clip
approach (see below) to a loop in the engine water intake hose between the
seacock and pump? Would the hole be small enough for the water intake pump
to overcome (without leakage), but large enough to prevent siphoning?

a host of manufacturers. Bad idea. Admits WAY too much air.
<The easy way to vent your intake loop is to merely take a hot paper clip,
held with a pair of pliers, and poke a SMALL hole into the top of your
intake loop. Just a small hole is all that is needed to break the
siphon. Nothing else to buy. Simple. Cheap.
