    Unfortunately you're part of the majority. Having said that, if you need to "tear your boat apart" to getat your valves, then someone didn't do things properly when they put your boat together. number 1 rule is that all valves must be easily accessible.

    Before I was livingaboard, I always closed the valves in the boat between visits.

    Now, if I'm going away for few days or a week,I'll close them.
