I once went for about a year without any news from TV, radio, or
newspapers. My only knowledge of what was going on in the world of
people came from my day-to-day contacts with real people at work, home,
and elsewhere. My attitude toward the human race did a 180 as a result
of no longer being bombarded by that steady stream of "ain't it aweful"
newscasts day after day after day.
