What I really miss is some of the shows on Life Network (such as "Tall Ship
Chronicles") or Outdoor Life Network (such as "Lonely Planet"). We don't
really watch the "mainstream" TV.
Right now we only get 6 over-the-air channels. We're thinking of getting
satellite TV (Bell ExpressVu). We would avoid the problems we've had with
Rogers Cable (now Shaw Cable) at our marina in Richmond, BC. Seems like a
lot of utilities (electricity, TV, phone) put us at the lowest
priority. Even the newspapers won't deliver to the boat. By going with
satellite TV, we'll never have to pay for another installation charge
again. And we don't have to worry about the quality of the service. Since
one neighbour had Internet installed on her cable TV line, another
neighbour has such poor reception now that they've given up watching
TV. Response time is several days, sometimes weeks.
Another advantage is that if we're not at our home marina (anchored or
docked), we'll still be able to watch TV. Although power might be a bit of
a problem as TV's use a lot of power.
