Most cruisers I know of have just payed cash for their medical coverage
outside the states. Example, emergency appendectomy with airlift to La Paz
and 3 days in the hospital, $1800.00
I just met someone who took a 2 week vacation to Thailand just to get dental
work done. She had 10 fillings re-done and a crown for under $200.00 U.S.
The entire Vacation on an island in the S. China Sea with dentistry in a new
hospital facility cost under $2000.00 The dentist was trained in Britain.
I would have paid a local dentist more than that for 1 good crown!!!!
I have been watching the health care situation in British Columbia, it's a
joke, people are being turned away from emergency rooms or waiting over 20
hours to see a doctor. Socialism never has worked, but greed is just as
bad......
I had Health Insurance with Conseco at a cost of about $2K. per year, but
they denied the measly $220.00 in charges that incurred the first year and
made me do all the inquiries to the doctors office about the billing!
What the hell did I pay them for????
