If you are buying the boat from a private party and not a dealer chances
are you don't pay any tax to NY for the purchase. When you get to your
destination or place you will keep the boat you will have to register it
there. A that time you will have to pay the piper. A boat should be
registered in the state where it is kept or used the majority of the
time. If you are keeping the boat in NY then you might want to consider
what county you live in as each county has a differing tax.
