All, I am moving about from the East to West, headed back east now on our
recently acquired vessel. If you are a serious Ocean going boater, who could
want any more than the Bahamas being only hours away! The west side is
fishing, the ICW (Tampa south) is not very interesting, not that the East is
any better however. I have noticed the weather on the West is different, and
not to our liking at all. Presently we are in Naples, in a marina as the
genset is flaking, or starved of fuel.
As for Melbourne, lived there for almost 2 years, yes, Rednecks, but Sam is
right, they are everywhere. The jobs that are scarce, Harris as well as
others, pay 10-15% less than anywhere else in the country because they
believe you should have to pay to live in paradise, so untrue.
South Florida can be a tough place if you find yourself in the wrong area.
If you are a live-a-board, there are plenty of knowledgeable and friendly
people there. If you are a party person, then South Florida is where you
want to be, its all a party and they can be avoided if warranted.
Marina/Live-a-boards rates are 500-????? per month, we pay 500 just off the
ICQ and 30 minutes to the ocean. It is very clean, friendly and affordable.
