Clogging of a/c coondensate drain lines can be due to one of several causes:
1. Not enough slope in the drain line- This isn't particularly easy to fix
because of the geometry of your boat's a/c and bilge. The best solution is
to deal with fixes 2-3 below which are probably the more basic culprit.
2. Dust in the evaporator that washes off into the condensate drain pan and
then clogs the drain- First wash the evaporator to clean off all existing
dirt and dust. Secondly clean or replace your intake air filter and make
sure it is sealing well against the evaporator. The evaporator is the finned
coil that gets cold from freon expanding.
3. Algae growth in the bottom of the condensate drain pan. That is why
bleach is recommended to kill the algae. If you dump about a 10% bleach
solution in your condensate pan, let stand for 30 minutes or so and then
flush with lots of water, then the effects of corrosion should be tolerable.
