You mean "Nepenthe", a 37' Islander owned by John Pearlman from Sausalito,
California. The other vessel was the Antares Royale, a Swiss registered Dufour
1200 ketch owned by Barbara and Ulrich Sandmeier of Berne, Switzerland. This
accident happened in the lower chamber of Gatun locks on March 2nd, 2001 at
about 8:30 AM. Fault has been accessed against a line handler and the Captain
of the Autoridad de Canal de Panama tug Lider.
It is my understanding that damages have been paid and the fees remain $500US
for boats under 50' plus an $800US deposit the same as before the accident..
