Don, I don't have a pet at the moment, but for recorded traveler
information call 1-866-SAFGUARD or
http://www.aphis.usda.gov/travel/pets.html
<http://www.aphis.usda.gov/travel/pets.html> The regulations may change
with the outbreaks of hoof and mouth disease. mike

Subject: lv-ab: Dogs and coming back to U.S.
I need some input from all of you dog owners. If we take our 2 dogs with us
to live
aboard and if we go out of the U.S., say to the Caribbean, for an extended
amount of time, and we have to sail back to the U.S. or a U.S. possession
like San Juan, are there any problems with USDA. Someone told us that if
the dogs stay on the boat and never touch any foreign soil, there is no
problem. But if they do, the
U.S. can quaranteen the dogs. Any truth to this?
Thanks for your help
Don Vassallo
