    Steve,
It doesn't look like you got much response to your inquiry. I am working on
a degree in IT currently through the University of Phoenix. I don't have any
current plans to do long term cruising but I am curious how you got into the
project management field. I am very interested in managing either network
design and implementation projects or web integration projects. I don't
really want to leave the Detroit area if I don't have to. If you can offer
any tips on how to begin in the project management field, I would appreciate
it. To answer your questions, I think the way I would combine the cruising
and IT lifestyles is to do contract work. That way you can cruise while the
money holds out and then work until you earn enough to cruise some more. As
far as communications, I think the ideal situation would allow you to
transfer data over an SSB connection. From what I understand, once you have
all the hardware in place it is reliable. Good luck and keep in touch. I'll
be interested in how things work out for you.

    Thanks,
    Tom Rogers

    Subject: lv-ab: live-aboard career

I continue to diligently work towards the purchase of a boat for my much
anticipated get away and live aboard life. I am currently a computer
programmer/project manager. I will need to continue working while cruising
for my support. I'm curious if there is anyone out there currently working
in this field while cruising. I'm trying to figure out how it all might be
structured and what direction to pursue now that will allow me to accomplish
this. For example, what type of communications are you using, what type of
development projects have you pursued, are you working for a company or
individually contracting work out, how often do you make contact with
    superiors , etc...

I appreciate this site and all the experience and knowledge it affords me.
Any input is welcome and appreciated.

    Steve L
