Dear Live-Aboards,
Well, when the non-live-aboards are all launching, I'm hauling out!
In less than two weeks, I'll be moving to Pasadena, CA, for about 15 months.
I'm going to be assisting in the building and commissioning of
instrumentation for the new Magellan 6.5 metre telescopes in Chile. For the
first time in eight years, I won't be living on my boat, though I certainly
hope to do some serious sailing as crew. If anybody is looking for a willing
crew member in the LA area with some offshore experience, please let me
know! I'd love to do some of the races to Baha or Hawaii, or just sail to
the Channel Islands.
I intend to keep my computers running in Toronto, looking after them from
Pasadena, so it'll look just like before. Of course, if there is a problem,
it may take longer to fix, but after running my own servers for 12 years,
I'm fairly confident that things will be OK.
